I know that we used to be able to get the "real rum" version in Massachusetts, but now I can only find the rum-flavored one. I think I'll have to look a little harder, because the version with alcohol in it is incredible. That explains it. Just so you know, Ritter makes two versions of the Rum, Raisin & Hazelnut bar ... one with 5% alcohol content and one with "rum flavor" ... some states won't allow the alcohol one to be sold to kids. So it’s not your imagination! Just keep an eye on the back of the label. I can find the full alcohol ones in California, but not in Pennsylvania.
