My cell phone rang while I was sitting at my desk last week, and when I answered, a meek little Indian fellow asked "Hello, Brian?"
For an instant I assumed it was just someone calling about some personal chef stuff or looking for me to come fix their mother’s computer, but as soon as I verified that it was indeed me, the man told me that "my friend Bridget" had arranged for him to sing a song to me to thank me for being a good friend. He then put down the handset of his phone and started singing a little song called "Thank You For Being You".
Turns out the fellow is from a company called Taj Tunes.com. For a very small price, someone at Taj Tunes, which is actually IN India, will call anyone you want them to call and deliver a "singing telegram" over the phone. There are a variety of songs to choose from to suit all manner of occasions, and they customize the song with the name of the recipient. You can hear a sample of each of their songs at their website. Several of them are piss-your-pants funny.
As he started to sing, the call cut out before he could finish, but he called back several minutes later and started again from the top.
Here’s my own personalized Indian singing telegram

Dear Harvey, Pete, Barry, Kevin, and every other weathermonkey on Boston-area TV: Enough is enough. The fucking blizzard was THIRTY-TWO YEARS AGO. It’s time to stop trotting out the same blurry videotape of cars stuck on Rt. 128 that is older than some of the people who are actually on your broadcast, [...]
It’s going to be a long two months waiting for the iPad to actually ship so that all the tech bloggers and their hangers-on will stop writing so much speculative bullshit about iT and turn their attention iNstead to some other thing that’s going to Change Life As We Know iT.
Since you cannot click a [...]
Please, please, PUH-LEEZE stop talking about “What do we call the last decade?” Nobody could come up with an acceptable choice ten years ago, and nobody’s going to come up with one now. “Aughties” and “Naughties” are contrived and stupid, and so is the very idea that anything wraps up all nice and [...]
Thanks to Shelley for alerting me that last night’s edition of the local TV newsmagzine “Chronicle” featured Harvard Humanist Chaplain Greg Epstein, whom I blogged about recently in conjunction with the various atheist billboard campaigns around the country. I was busy helping Charlotte do her homework, so I didn’t watch the show, but WCVB’s [...]

Oh I so love this junk. I don’t care if they are in Brooklyn, they have the accent and that’s what counts.
The price is right too.
Happy-happy-joy-joy!
That is AWESOME! You’re pretty lucky to have a good friend like Bridget. :-)
That’s what I say every single day about Brian…thank you for being you. :) What a hoot!
