I used to carry a Leatherman minitool attached to my keychain because I frequently needed a screwdriver or a pocket knife at work. Unfortunately, I lost mine about a year ago and Leatherman doesn’t make that particular item anymore.
Then Boing-Boing had a post about this cool utility belt that has a removable screwdriver and allen wrench. Not to worry – the tools do come out of the buckle without you having to drop trou in the middle of the office. It’s apparently marketed with the snowboarding crowd in mind, if the blurb at Amazon indicates anything, but your friendly neighborhood IT guy could make good use of it, too. It doesn’t have a knife blade, which is too bad, but it does have a bottle opener, which any sysadmin recognizes the immediate value of.
