Pop Quiz

Feeling smart today, children? Well this will fix that for you in a jiffy:

See if you can name ALL the elements in the Periodic Table in fifteen minutes or less. And you can’t get all cute by typing in the abbreviations, you have to type out the entire name of each one (which means, obviously, that you have to spell it correctly in order for the computer to mark it correct).

I remember very distinctly learning the perioidic table in high school chemistry, but even our chemistry teacher, Mr. Sweetser (who was a sumbitch, lemmetellya) didn’t make us memorize the WHOLE thing. So I was pretty pleased with myself that I got about half of them. 56 out of 118 to be precise.

If you want to study up a bit before giving this a try, let me recommend this brilliant animation set to Tom Lehrer’s immortal song “The Elements”. I kept running this song over and over in my head, and it undoubtedly helped me remember five or six different elements.

Even though my first chem teacher required this of us, I am certain I can’t do it now…and my spelling…oy….not a chance.
