Spent all day yesterday finishing up the new design. I hope you like it. I went a little more “Web 2.0″ this time around. Tweaking WordPress templates is a little less straightforward than Movable Type used to be because of the PHP scripting, but after staring at it long enough it finally started to make sense to me.
Content-wise, there’s not much different. The only doodad thing I included from the original design I “borrowed” is the Javascript for the “Recent Visitors” thingie on the right. It works with a social networking site called MyBlogLog. If you’re signed up with that site, and you post a picture in your profile, it will show up there as a little thumbnail. Clearly they’re trading on the vanity of bloggers to sign up for the service and upload a photo so they can get their picture on someone else’s blog. It’s a little bit like 2000 all over again, when we all discovered the game of blogrolling. People who sign up but don’t upload a picture are displayed as little gray smiley faces, and you don’t want to be a little gray smiley face, do you?
So far, everything seems to work on Firefox (v2.0.0.14), IE 6, and Safari (whatever version runs on the iPod Touch), but if you notice anything the least bit flaky, please let me know so I can try to fix it.

Dear Harvey, Pete, Barry, Kevin, and every other weathermonkey on Boston-area TV: Enough is enough. The fucking blizzard was THIRTY-TWO YEARS AGO. It’s time to stop trotting out the same blurry videotape of cars stuck on Rt. 128 that is older than some of the people who are actually on your broadcast, just so we [...]
It’s going to be a long two months waiting for the iPad to actually ship so that all the tech bloggers and their hangers-on will stop writing so much speculative bullshit about iT and turn their attention iNstead to some other thing that’s going to Change Life As We Know iT. Since you cannot click [...]
Please, please, PUH-LEEZE stop talking about “What do we call the last decade?” Nobody could come up with an acceptable choice ten years ago, and nobody’s going to come up with one now. “Aughties” and “Naughties” are contrived and stupid, and so is the very idea that anything wraps up all nice and neatly into [...]

Nicely done. I like the look. Mac/Safari works like a charm. Site loads quick. I usually use Firefox on Mac so will give that a go too.
No problemo. Same as with Safari.
