Biologist and champion atheist P.Z. Myers reminds us all exactly WHY it is NOT a good idea to try to keep an octopus, squid, cuttlefish, or any other sort of cephalopod as a pet. He leaves out a few critical reasons, such as the well-known fact that octopi cheat at cards, the rare-but-unpleasant possibility of ending up with bitchy cuttlefish who will talk about you behind your back to whomever comes along, and the propensity of Humboldt squid to mimic the musical stylings of The Three Tenors, badly.
Nevertheless, when you see a video like the one below, doesn’t it just make you want to run right down to the nearest cephalopod merchant and bring home a whole bucket full of these octopi?
