That really is impressive, and I'm glad you got to be part of it. I am frequently amazed - no, not amazed, but touched by how willing children are to see a need and want to find a way to help. Watching the 60 Minutes piece Sunday night, the footage of dump trucks loaded with bodies left us stunned, too.

Thanks for sharing this.

Apparently lots of those cups were paid for with $20 bills, and at least one person forked over $250. The money they collected will be donated to the Red Cross.

Impressive fund-raising, and definitely a great way to get the kids to participate (and parents, too). I like the fact that you helped her make the connection between the harsh reality of the situation in Haiti and the way that she and her school were able to do something, even something small, to try to help. Well done, Wilmington!

We got an email this evening from Charlotte's teacher to say that the final total of money raised was over $1600, due to some very generous donations from several people. That was way over their expectation of raising $200-300, and the kids were thrilled beyond belief. What a nice surprise for them and what a great sign of support from the parents.
