Via Boing Boing comes a link to this interactive map at Good that illustrates where aid money for Haiti is coming from. You can zoom in and scroll around the image to see the details. The dollar figures represent millions. What I was particularly impressed by are the individual donations from actress Sandra Bullock ($1 million) and model Gisele Bundchen ($1.5 million) and how they compare to several notorious corporate entities; Goldman Sachs, for example, has only ponied up a million dollars compared to the $20 billion they handed out in bonuses last year. And while Bill Gates does give away an awful lot of his personal fortune to humanitarian aid, Microsoft itself has also only coughed up $1.25 million. As commenters at Good point out, the graphic is missing data from countries like Canada, which has pledged to match private donations dollar-for-dollar, the total of which presently stands at $CDN 82 million, and the data is only accurate as of January 19.
