Congratulations to the Maine Republican Party on completing the transition from Reality to Nutjobistan this week as the Teabaggers took full control of their party convention and imposed their bizarre list of demands onto the party’s official platform for the 2010 elections.
Among their demands:
- making atheism illegal
- an investigation of “collusion between government and industry in the global warming myth”
- reject the UN Treaty on Rights of The Child, the Law Of The Sea Treaty, and, while you’re at it, just abolish the whole damn UN
- “Discard political correctness, make public the declaration of war (Jihad), made against the US on 23 Feb 1998, and fight the war against the United States by radical Islam to win.”
- “Repeal and prohibit any participation in efforts to create a one world government.”
- “Return to the principles of Austrian Economics”
And the really scary thing: these people are probably going to win whatever they are running for in November. All that inbreeding and Allen’s Coffee Brandy have finally taken their toll.

*sigh* And my in-laws were at that convention, and probably voted for much of the tea party stuff. I like them, but I make a point of never discussing politics with them.
Mmm. I may not always get along with my brothers, but at least there’s not a huge elephant in the room like that (no pun intended).
I would suggest you read the document rather than relying on partisans of any persuasion. Most importlantly don’t let lofty titles mislead you. The Soviet Union had a lofty constitution. They just never lived up to them or better yet used it as a sword to hamper just about every human right you could imagine.

It’s not so crazy. Just because the Daily Kos and there nutball cousins sau it is.
Dude, I read all four pages of it and quoted directly from it in the post. It reads like it was written by a group of paranoid delusionals. The bit about the Jihad alone is enough to prove that you guys are wacko, but the business about opposing efforts to create one world government, not letting anybody take your guns, and “no political correctness” really seals the deal on what a bunch of looney-tunes you teabaggers are.
But wait, there’s still more!

I had heard about that, too. About par for the course with that crowd, I think. That’s why I am not a proponent of the “let’s just reason with them” line of thinking. They’re not reasonable people.
