J’Accuse!

I rarely pay much attention to Keith Olbermann anymore because he’s turned into such a parody of himself, but when he’s good, he’s still really good. This is his Special Comment from last night about the shameful nonsense regarding Shirley Sherrod and the smearjob by Andrew Breitbart and FOX News. It’s rather long, but he’s dead on:

UPDATED

If Keith’s ranting isn’t your thing, Rachel Maddow does an even BETTER job of taking down FOX News without so much self-righteousness:

Karl Rove thinks your campaign ads lie too much.

…wearing a hand-tailored ermine-trimmed gown, Gucci sunglasses, and Prada loafers that were even more expensive than John McCain’s, Emperor Palpatine Pope Benedict XVI once again denounces materialism as “evil” in front of a stadium crowd of 250,000 believers, then returns to his marble palace filled with the world’s most expensive artworks to count his $5 billion fortune.

…your GOP campaign flacks are so full of shit that even FOX News tears them a new asshole live on television.

Unclear On The Concept, Number #35890

Dig this video clip of John McCain on FAUX News. He’s talking about the Russian incursion into Georgia as they continue to struggle over South Ossetia. The very last thing he says is (and I quote): “In the 21st Century, nations don’t invade other nations”.

Somebody really needs to bring Old Wrinkly White Guy up to speed.

Shameless Bastards

The cretins at FOX News should be ashamed of such tawdry race-baiting, except, of course, they have no shame. Or common sense. Or human decency.

Just days ago they tried the other favorite smear tactic — implying that the Obamas are terrorists — with the “terrorist hand jab” remark, and the blood from E.D. Hill’s seppuku knife wasn’t even cold before Michelle Malkin follows up with the big one: these people are niggers!

From now until November, and, if he wins, until the day he leaves the White House, FOX News is going to make sure that everybody knows that Barack Obama and his wife are BLACK!!! It is Strategy Number One from Roger Ailes, no doubt with some expert advice from Karl “I’m Just A Commentator” Rove. It will allow John McCain to put enough distance between himself and the smear campaign that he can say he never played dirty politics, and yet we are going to be plastered day and night with “don’t vote for Obama, he’s black” from FOX. Meanwhile, the other news outlets will be drawn like mosquitos to a bug zapper to the ongoing furor that will result, lending endless gobs of coverage, and hence credibility, to the whole damn sideshow.

I think it’s even more reprehensible that they’ve chosen to aim first at Michelle Obama. The insinuations of there being a videotape of her ranting, the instant comparisons of her wardrobe to HIllary Clinton’s (and here we go with that “the only thing that matters about women is their appearance” meme again), fabricating “quotes” from her college thesis, and now this low-life sleazeball insinuation jab.

Maybe from now until Election Day, every time John McCain’s wife appears on camera they should call her “that cunt, Cindy” to remind people what McCain seems to think of his meal ticket spouse. That would certainly level the playing field. Right into the sewer.

Taking Lessons From FOX News, I See

The TVNewser folks caught Chris Matthews and MSNBC pulling a standard FOX News trick last night. Watch that video clip and you’ll see Chris Matthews reporting on Barack OBAMA with a picture of OSAMA Bin Laden in the news graphic. (thanks to Jack Cluth for alerting me to this story)

Matthews made a vague on-air apology a few minutes later, and this morning MSNBC said that a graphic artist had been "reprimanded", but there’s no way in hell this happened because of one rogue employee — the producer and the show’s technical director both had to have seen this before it went live on the air. I’m only surprised that Chris Matthews didn’t say "Barack HUSSEIN Obama" (or, as the anchors at FOX have taken to calling him, "B. Hussein Obama"). Get ready for a lot of this, and much, much worse, if Obama wins the nomination.

As election season rolls on, you’re going to hear more and more about push polls – a campaign trick where deliberately leading (and usually misleading) questions are posed over the phone by campaign workers representing themselves as pollsters. Push polls can be used to skew a response by providing choices that the person being polled might not otherwise make, or can simply be used as a mechanism for spreading innuendo and propaganda among likely voters. Before the primaries began, Mitt Romney’s campaign staged a push poll to make it look like some other candidate was attacking him for being a Mormon, and the Clinton campaign was accused of push polling in the South Carolina primary. The clever folks at Yankee Pot Roast have a typical push poll for you to enjoy entitled "Are You A Conservative Or A Liberal?" that sounds like it could have come directly from FOX News itself.
